The Saul Alexander Playground is officially open!

The Town of Summerville celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on February 18, 2022. Renovations started July 2021 after Town Council unanimously approved the remaining $150,000 needed for the park’s remodel.
The playground is handicap accessible and re-designed to be enjoyed by children of all abilities. Renovations, including sidewalks, a zip track, inclusive whirl, and musical corner, promote social equity and enhance the quality of life for the community. Children with cognitive, physical, sensory, or social disabilities are provided with equal opportunities to play.

The Town received funding from Dorchester County Government, the Summerville Miracle League, a Park and Recreation Development grant, and the South Carolina Federal Credit Union for the project. The bid for construction was awarded to GameTime c/o Cunningham Recreation.
Saul Alexander Park Playground is located at 615 S. Laurel St. It's open every day from dawn to dusk under normal operating hours and is maintained by the Parks & Recreation Department.
