Summerville Fire-Rescue Responds to Structure Fire in North Main Market

Summerville, S.C. (May 24, 2016) - At 1:12 AM today, Summerville Fire-Rescue (SFR) was dispatched to 1317 N. Main St. Suite D-2 for a reported structure fire.  When crews arrived on scene they found a single story strip mall with smoke conditions present in three of the businesses. 

Crews forced entry into Divas Nail Spa and found the origin of the fire. The fire was contained to this area and brought under control in approximately twenty minutes.  Crews remained on scene for another two hours working to insure the fire was completely extinguished. 

Divas Nail Spa suffered extensive heat, smoke and water damage.  The adjoining businesses sustained minor smoke damage but are back open for business. 

One firefighter was treated and released from Summerville Medical Center for an undisclosed medical condition.  There were no other injuries reported from this incident. 

In total four (4) fire engines, two (2) ladder trucks and twenty six (26) SFR personnel responded to the fire. Other local fire departments covered the SFR response area during the incident. “I was very pleased with the performance of our personnel containing this fire to the area of origin and preventing further damage to these businesses.” said Chief Richard Waring.

The cause of this fire is under investigation.
