About Chief Jenkins
Chief Jake Jenkins started his fire service career in 1990 as a volunteer firefighter at the C and B fire department. In 1992, he transitioned to the career fire service in the City of Charleston Fire Department.

Chief Jenkins spent more than 23 years as a firefighter for the City of Charleston Fire Department serving as a firefighter, engineer, captain, and battalion chief. Chief Jenkins retired from the Charleston Fire Department in 2016. In 2016 the Summerville Fire Department hired Chief Jenkins as the Assistant Chief of Operations in which he currently serves.

Chief Jenkins is a graduate of Summerville High School, has an associate's degree in Fire Science from Keiser University. He also has a bachelor's of science degree in Public Safety Administration. He has attended many courses at the National Fire Academy and the South Carolina Fire Academy. He is also a State Fire Academy Instructor, Chief Jenkins has also taught on the National Level for local and federal agencies.

Community Engagement
Chief Jenkins is well respected among firefighters in the local area for his professionalism and his ability to build strong relationships with others. During his time as a Captain and Battalion Chief in the Charleston Fire Department, Chief Jenkins was recognized for the development of SOG, training, and delivery of Truck Company Operations. He has also served as a Field Training Officer and Assistant Battalion Chief of Training where he managed the fire recruit program.
