PUBLIC NOTICE OF CANDIDATE FILING (Town Council District 4 Unexpired Term)
STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA COUNTY OF DORCHESTER
The Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Summerville passed a resolution to open filing for the November 7, 2023, election to immediately fill the vacancy on the Town Council for District 4. Filing during this period is only open to residents and registered voters residing in District 4. This term shall expire upon the swearing-in of the Council Member’s successor who will be sworn in on January 3, 2024.
Statements of Intention of Candidacy-Nonpartisan for Town Council District 4 to fill the unexpired term will be accepted at the Business License desk located in the Summerville Town Hall at 200 South Main Street, Summerville, SC 29483. No pictures are permitted in town facilities. Please email all questions to Beth Messervy, Town Clerk, at firstname.lastname@example.org.

- Filing Closes: 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023
- Weekdays: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The filing fee for this office is $100.00. Filing fees are paid at the time of filing by candidates seeking office. Filing fee checks should be made payable to the “Town of Summerville.”

Candidates are required to file a Statement of Economic Interests and a Campaign Disclosure online with the State Ethics Commission at http://ethics.sc.gov. Failure to file these documents may result in a candidate fine but will not disqualify a candidate from the election. Contact the State Ethics Commission for more information.
