NOTICE TO TOWN OF SUMMERVILLE RESIDENTS – IMMEDIATE NEED TO FILL VACANCY ON MUNICIPAL ELECTION COMMISSION

The Mayor and Council of the Town of Summerville are accepting applications from Town of Summerville citizens to fill a vacant seat on the Municipal Election Commission. The Municipal Election Commission shall certify the results of each election to the municipality immediately following the certification of the votes cast in each election. The Municipal Election Commission shall conduct any provisional ballot hearings, election recounts and/or any other protest hearings regarding the election. The authority and responsibility of conducting elections shall be that of the Dorchester County Board of Elections and Voter Registration. The Dorchester County Board of Elections and Voter Registration shall conduct the municipal elections in accordance with Title 7 of the S.C. Code of Election Laws unless otherwise specified by S.C. Code 1976, Title 5.

The seat must be filled by a citizen who lives within the municipal limits of the Town of Summerville, as prescribed by State Law. The Town of Summerville’s municipal election is on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. The commission will meet before and after that date.
